Homelessness in Colorado increased by nearly 30% in 2024 as rising housing costs, inflation, addiction, mental health challenges, and economic instability continue to impact communities across the state. Shelters, public services, and local communities are facing growing strain as more Coloradans struggle to find stable housing.
Today, Coloradans need approximately $15,000 more per year just to maintain the same standard of living they had in 2021. Rising costs for housing, groceries, utilities, fuel, healthcare, and everyday necessities are placing increasing financial pressure on working families across our state.
Colorado communities are facing rising crime, drug trafficking, theft, fentanyl deaths, repeat offenders, and growing public safety concerns. Families, businesses, and neighborhoods across the state are paying the price for weak leadership and failed policies that continue putting criminals ahead of law-abiding citizens.
Our state has become ground zero rampant drug abuse. In the last 15 years drug overdoses have skyrocketed. Fentanyl from our southern border has become an epidemic. Now, you take a walk down the street in downtown Denver, and you see it in real time. Vagrants defecate in the street and loiter. Colorado is number one in the nation in cocaine use and overdose deaths have doubled since 2021. So-called “Safe Injection Sites” are not the answer. We need to crack down on traffickers, and stop the drug-promotion culture that has been promoted since 2013.
Colorado used to represent the pinnacle of freedom in the American west. Now we have a surveillance of the likes of New York and California. Colorado used to be one of the best economies in the nation, a great place to start a new and thriving small business. Now we have one of the highest costs of living in the nation, and our economy is hanging on by a thread. Our 2nd Amendment rights are also under historic assault. We must fix this by respecting Coloradans’ God-given rights again, rolling back frivolous regulations, remain within the Constitutional boundaries prescribed by the Tax Payer's Bill of Rights.
Colorado has rapidly become one of the least affordable states in the nation, driven by years of mismanagement and overreach. Out-of-control housing costs have surged at one of the fastest rates in the country, while burdensome regulations and rising taxes continue to drive up everyday costs. For many hardworking Coloradans, the cost of living is becoming unsustainable, and it’s clear that we must start putting Colorado first again.
Colorado Schools have become cesspools for indoctrination and the poisoning of our children's minds. The General Assembly has waged war on parents with one legislator comparing Christian parents to members of the KKK. This must stop now. I will champion expansion of educational choice pathways like homeschooling to ensure parents have full control of their children's rearing.
Crime and public safety have become defining issues across Colorado, driven in large part by failed policies from left wing Democrats in Denver. Rising crime, weakened enforcement, and a lack of accountability have made communities across the state less safe.
We need to clean up our streets. Stabbings and violence from criminals is out of control. The legislature needs to keep the criminals off our streets and the mentally ill the treatment they need. But Denver can no longer be a campground. And it especially cannot be allowed to spill over into HD-61. Order has to be restored, and I will work tirelessly to get it done.
